Russell Martin Lauches Campaign for
Homeless Shelter Children
With young children of my own, a “hard” time in our house means that we buy generic food for a couple of weeks and maybe don’t go to the children’s museum quite as often. I can’t imagine telling my sons that we don’t know where we will sleep tonight or if they will get dinner.
We are fortunate that one of our wonderful employees, Laura Hernandez, is on the board of directors of DuPage PADS. In a casual conversation about the staggering number of children being housed, Laura and I came up with an idea…
We can do a little something for these kids
As a result, Russell Martin is launching a campaign. We will collect items within the community and match the total donations collected for children housed in the PADS shelters, hoping to make their stay just a little bit easier. Below is a general list of items we hope to donate. There are obviously many other items that would be appropriate and appreciated that we would be most happy to accept and pass on. If you are able, please pick up an extra item or two for these kids. They can either be dropped off at our showroom or picked up at your house when we are cleaning or installing. Please pass on only new or very gently used items. If you would rather, you are welcome to make a cash donation at the showroom or even add to your cleaning bill. We noted an approximate cash value to the donation items. Russell Martin will match the total donations collected up to $2500.00.
Coloring Books & Crayons ($2.00)
Backpack ($6.00)
Children’s Pajamas ($10)
Sleeping Bag ($30.00)
School supply type items
Socks, underwear, tee shirts
While we know a pair of pajamas and a box of crayons can’t solve the world’s problems, they may go a very long way toward helping a child without either.
