Q: What cleaning process does Russell Martin use?

A: We use hot water extraction, more commonly known as “Steam Cleaning.” Hot water extraction is the only cleaning process that is endorsed by the IICRC (Institute for Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification), as well as most of the major carpet manufacturers, including Mohawk, Shaw and The Wools of New Zealand.

Q: How does hot water extraction work?

A: Hot water extraction works on many of the same principles that your washing machine uses when cleaning an item of clothing. The correct balance of a mild detergent, light agitation and precise water temperatures provides the key to removing the maximum amount of soil without damaging the carpet or upholstery fibers.


Q: How long will it take for my carpet or upholstery to dry?

A: Drying time can range from 2–8 hours on average. The most relevant factor in drying time is the overall humidity of the drying environment. Warm, dry days and cool, dry days are best for drying, while rainy or humid days take a little longer. Other useful drying resources are your furnace on a cool day, your air conditioner on a warm day, or a gentle breeze from either a fan or a window on any day. Always feel free to ask your Russell Martin cleaning professional for his or her advice for your specific drying needs.


Q: How long will RM have my rug for cleaning?

A: The average area rug cleaning time is between 5-7 business days. This amount of time allows us to clean each rug at least twice. We will often clean an area rug 3, 4, or 5 times if necessary. In these circumstances an area rug will usually take longer than the average 5-7 business days.


Q: How do I get my rug to Russell Martin?

A: Our most popular rug cleaning service is Lug Your Rug and Save 30%. You roll it, you load it, you deliver it, you save! Roll your rug up and bring it into Russell Martin's showroom at 633 N. Washington St. Naperville, IL, to be cleaned at our rug cleaning plant. If you need a little help you can try our door-to-door area rug pick up and delivery. You roll it up, we pick it up, and then we deliver it back. We ask that all rugs are tightly rolled in the width. Please have the rug close to the front door if at all possible. When the rug is returned it will be delivered back to your front door wrapped in paper.

Please do not roll up area rug pads with rugs. We do not clean or accept used area rug pads.

Send your strongest guys, this rug is a monster! I need a rug rolled and laid!

Sometimes it’s just best to let somebody else do it for you and we are more than happy to help. Just give us a call and we will set you up for a rug pick-up with two of our strongest guys. All we ask is that you remove any small items located on or near the rug. When our Russell Martin strongmen arrive, they will move the remaining furniture, roll up the rug, take it to our cleaning facility, deliver it back to you after the rug has been cleaned, and put it in place.

Excessively heavy furniture such as pianos, entertainment centers, etc. may require an additional charge
